Water supply change notification – Gisborne, Gisborne South, New Gisborne, Macedon, Mt Macedon, Riddells Creek
20 November 2024
Over the next few days, we’re switching the water source in Gisborne, Gisborne South, New Gisborne, Macedon, Mt Macedon and Riddells Creek back to Rosslynne Reservoir.
We're making this change as we’ve now completed our planned maintenance at the Rosslynne Water Filtration Plant that began in July.
Customers in these towns might notice a slight difference in the taste or smell of their drinking water but can rest assured that the water is safe to drink and use as always.
Update: 11 July 2024
On Thursday 11 July, we’re switching the water source for Gisborne, Gisborne South, New Gisborne, Macedon, Mt Macedon and Riddells Creek from Rosslynne Reservoir to Melbourne’s supply system.
We’re making this change so we can carry out planned maintenance on the Rosslynne Water Filtration Plant. We expect this work will take 11-12 weeks, returning to local supply by the end of September.
We use various water sources across our region to supply some customers. This helps us meet the water needs of our growing population when demand is high, and during repairs and maintenance.
Customers in these towns might notice a slight change in the taste and smell of their tap water during the switch to Melbourne supply. This is nothing to be concerned by - the water meets all required drinking water standards.
The change in taste and odour is due to the different water treatment processes used for Melbourne supply, compared to when your drinking water is sourced from local storages.
