If you run an occasional care or child care centre you may need a trade waste agreement, depending on the activities at your centre. Find out more about your centre’s trade waste requirements.
Trade waste agreements
You will need a trade waste agreement with us if your occasional care or child care centre:
prepares food for children
has laundry facilities, like washing machines.
If your occasional care or child care centre does not prepare food or have laundering facilities, you are not required to apply for a trade waste agreement.
What you need if your occasional care or child care centre prepares food
If your occasional care or child care centre prepares or cooks food, you need to have an appropriately sized grease trap in place. Grease traps must be installed by a licensed plumber.
Grease traps need to be pumped out quarterly by an EPA-licensed waste collector.
Wet wipes and cleansing cloths should not be flushed down the toilet, even ones marked "flushable". These products often do not break down easily and cause problems in our sewerage network.
