Becoming a recycled water carter

Before you apply to become a recycled water carter, you need to complete some important tasks.

Before you apply

Complete the following tasks to ensure your safety as well as the operation of important infrastructure.

  1. Check that there is an appropriate backflow prevention device on your vehicle. This can be an air-gap or Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) device.
  2. Engage a licensed plumber accredited in backflow prevention devices to complete a backflow inspection and maintenance report. 

Applying to become a recycled water carter

Complete and submit the application form to become a recycled water carter. We usually need at least 10 business days to process applications.

Annual backflow reports

Backflow reports are due every 12 months. Backflow reports ensure we can a safe and secure water supply. Failure to send your annual backflow report will result in the cancellation of your permit.

Replacement recycled water carter permit sticker $17.76

 

Audit and registration

As part of your requirements under the Food Act 1984, you must register as a water carter with your local council.

All vehicles included in the permit must also pass an annual backflow audit.
