We’re refunding water and sewerage network charges for eligible commercial or business customers whose properties have no direct access to water.
Changes to our network charges
We're removing water and sewerage network charges from eligible commercial or business accounts. Instead, we'll send owners’ corporations one annual charge for each building.
In 2018, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal decided that commercial customers without direct access to water on their property had been incorrectly billed for water and sewerage network charges.
In line with VCAT's decision, some of our commercial and business customers may be eligible for a rebate for water and sewerage network payments made payments made after October 2018.
As the VCAT decision affects other commercial or business customers, we also changed the way we charge customers with property titles in a sub-division (subject to an owners’ corporation) that are not directly connected to our water and sewer services.
Why we collect network charges
To help us deliver safe and reliable water and sewerage services, your bills include water and sewerage network service charges. These charges contribute to things like maintaining and upgrading the network of pipes that delivers water to your home and transports waste to our treatment plants.
You'll see other charges on your bill, like parks charge and the waterways and drainage charge.
How we will provide eligible customers with a rebate
If you think you might be eligible for a rebate, please fill out our network charges enquiry form and we will be in touch.
If you are eligible for a rebate we'll credit your account with the rebate amount, including interest on the amount due for the applicable period. Once it has been issued as a credit, you can request the rebate to be paid as a refund.
