Sometimes government authorities and other service providers need to work near our assets.
This work may be:
removing a level crossing
building or widening a road
maintaining powerlines.
An asset is equipment or infrastructure, like water or sewer mains. There are many different types of assets but our underground pipelines are most at risk of damage during construction work.
You need written permission from us to work within 3 metres of one of our assets.
Read our guidelines for construction and excavation works on and near existing assets.
To apply for our permission to work near our assets, email oaw@gww.com.au with:
the name of your authority
your project contact details (name, phone number and email address)
the location of the works
details of potential impacts to our assets (use the resources below to determine any potential impacts)
your strategy for managing these potential impacts
your program of works, including a detailed timeline.
Your authority is responsible for paying for any asset modifications that may be required as part of the works.
We will respond to your email within 15 business days.
We will review your application and work with you to create an appropriate protection strategy that meets the needs of your project, the community and our customers.
