Stormwater Harvesting Partnership Program

Promoting sustainable water management for a greener, more liveable west.

Stormwater harvesting involves collecting, treating and storing stormwater runoff from urban areas. This water can be reused to irrigate public parks, gardens, sports fields and golf courses.

We are working with open space managers to improve green spaces in Melbourne’s west by making better use of alternative water sources for irrigation.

Stormwater Harvesting Partnership Program

Greater Western Water is delivering a new Stormwater Harvesting Partnership Program.

We are identifying potential projects that can be delivered through this program by 2028, focusing on initiatives that reduce potable water usage by providing an alternative water source for open space irrigation.

Since 2018, the Stormwater Harvesting Partnership Fund has co-funded eight projects. These projects are expected to save 90 Olympic swimming pools of drinking water every year.
