Water supply change notification – Bacchus Marsh, Darley, Maddingley and Parwan
6 June 2024
On Wednesday 12 June 2024, we’re switching the water source in Bacchus Marsh, Darley, Maddingley and Parwan from Merrimu Reservoir to the Melbourne supply system.
We’re making this change so we can carry out planned maintenance on the Merrimu Water Filtration Plant.
We expect this work will take 8-9 weeks, returning to local supply by early August. We use different drinking water sources to supply our service area. This means we can provide a reliable water supply when demand is high, and during repairs and maintenance.
Water can have a slightly different taste or odour depending on the catchment it’s sourced from.
The change in taste and odour is caused by different water treatment processes used across our network to meet required drinking water quality standards.
If you notice a change at the tap, it's nothing to be concerned by – your water is safe to drink and use as normal.
