Local community sponsorships promote equity, opportunity and inclusivity

You can now apply for a local community sponsorship as part of Thriving Communities, our grants and sponsorship program. Thriving Communities supports local activities that help make our region a great place to live.

Local community sponsorships make up the bulk of our Thriving Communities grants and sponsorships program. These sponsorships provide up to $5,000 to community activities that promote equity, opportunity and inclusivity, and help make our region a great place to live.

We're looking for projects that give everyone the chance to participate in the life of our region. A local community sponsorship could support a gathering that celebrates community, like a festival or sporting event. It's also a great way to fund projects that support our environment, like teaching people about saving water or increasing greenery in your area.

Last year, we awarded the Sunbury Aboriginal Corporation (SAC) a local community sponsorship. The SAC had recognised a community need for more face-to-face events after the pandemic. They applied for a sponsorship to help them to host regular events like monthly dinners with the local First Nations community. These dinners bring together First Nations families from Sunbury and the surrounding areas.
